Senior School Term 4 2017

To the Parents and Caregivers of Senior Students at Henderson South School

Welcome back to another term. We hope you had a good break with your children, and that they are rejuvenated and ready to hit another 9 busy weeks of school.

Our topic this term is CELEBRATIONS.
We will be studying Celebrations in New Zealand, around the world, and comparing and contrasting the practices involved. We also have a Visual Arts focus, creating 3D artworks. This learning goes nicely with the Henderson South School 50th Jubilee this term, that we are all looking forward to. We were anticipating the opening of our new Innovative Learning Environment, but as we all know building deadlines are often hampered for different reasons so watch this space. We will be writing poetry and speeches, and in Maths we are looking at Measurement: Time and Temperature.

Some important events for this term are:
– Labour day 23rd of October
– HSS Athletics Day 21st of November
– Cultural festival at Henderson Intermediate 24th of November
– Inter-School Athletics 28th of November
– The HSS Jubilee celebrations 30th of November and 1st of December
– Year 6 Graduation assembly 8th of December
– Reports go home 12th December
– Final assembly 14th of December

We will also be testing, assessing and writing reports this term, which is something else to look forward to. Now that we are heading into the summer season, we will need to ensure your children have the correct uniform for term 4, which includes having their hats to protect them from the sun, and sandals so they can keep cool. Weekly Homework and Reading will continue. We would like to thank you all for your continued support of your children’s achievements.

Day 7 of The Worm Farm

Class observation.
One worm farm had the sand and soil mixed. It was the stinky one. The stinky one is the worm farm kept in the cupboard. It was so stinky that we almost passed out. The bench worm farm does not stink because it has fresh air.
